This file contains the INSTALLATION steps, as well as potential issues during installation.
For information about the mod itself, read the "MOD INFORMATION" file.

This mod is installed in two stages (BOTH ARE REQUIRED):

 • VLTED STAGE installs all features related to VltEd.

The stages can be installed in any order.

Crossfire comes bundled with other mods, with authorization from all creators:

 │ │
│ WHITELIST Bartender's .asi file in your antivirus software if it gets flagged by it. If the flagging │
│ happens when you try to run the game, a pop-up with "Error code: 225" will appear, which indicates │

────────── ■ │ INSTALLATION: VLTED STAGE │ ■ ─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────

BEFORE starting this stage:
 1) • install NFS-VltEd v4.6 or above
=> link to mod page: https://nfs-tools.blogspot.com/2019/02/nfs-vlted-v46-released.html

TO INSTALL this stage:
 1) • open NFS-VltEd,
 2) • click File -> Open in the menu at the top and select your game's directory,
 3) • click File -> Import, open this mod's directory, and select "Crossfire_VltEd_Install.nfsms",
 4) • choose whichever options you want and click "Install", and
 5) • click File -> Save and close VltEd.

 • You might get some warnings if you had Unlimiter previously installed. This is expected, because
VltEd can't check for the existence of nodes, so don't worry about it.

────────── ■ │ INSTALLATION: BINARY STAGE │ ■ ────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────

BEFORE starting this stage:
 1) • install the game (English, version 1.3),
 2) • install Binary 2.8.3 or above
=> link to mod page: https://nfsmods.xyz/mod/1638

TO INSTALL this stage:
 1) • open Binary and choose "User Mode",
 2) • find and select the "Crossfire_Binary_Install.end" file,
 3) • find and select your game's directory,
 4) • choose whether you want the optional features (see choices below) and click "OK",
 5) • close the pop-up notifying you of the successful installation, and
 6) • agree to "save files" when prompted to do so.

──────│ The available choices in step 4) are: │──────────────────

 • "Install compatible Unlimiter settings?" [Only if you already have Unlimiter installed]
Binary will install Unlimiter settings that are fully compatible with Open Limit Adjuster.
This will override your NFSMWUnlimiterSettings.ini settings, so keep that in mind.

 • "Install healthbars for cops (mod by trelbutate)?"
If you agree, Binary will install the healthbars.asi mod, which adds working healthbars for cops.

 • "Install custom ingame SMS messages?"
If you agree, Binary will install custom SMS messages. See what they are in "MOD INFORMATION".
If you had modified the same messages with a previous mod, those changes will be overwritten.

 • "FOR FUN: Spawn 15 Rhinos at once?"
If you agree, Binary will make Bartender spawn 15 ramming Rhinos at once. Totally not unbalanced!

─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─

 • Crossfire will automatically install a small portion of NFSMW Unlimiter if you don't have it.
Only the parts that are needed for the mod will be installed.
If you wish to fully install Unlimiter, download it separately from NFSMods and assume that you need a
   new installation, not an update/upgrade.

 • If you already had Unlimiter and chose not to override your settings, DISABLE the following options in it:
--> EnableCopDestroyedStringHook - this conflicts with Bartender's string assignment.
--> ExpandMemoryPools - this conflicts with OpenLA and causes some bugs with car models.
--> RandomizeTraffic - this forcibly enables ExpandMemoryPools.
--> CarSkinFix - this forcibly enables ExpandMemoryPools.

You can now run the game if you want to.

────────── ■ │ NFSMW EXTRA OPTIONS COMPATIBILITY ISSUES │ ■ ──────────────────────────────────────────────────

        ■ IMPORTANT ■
If you have NFSMW Extra Options, avoid using the feature that activates the player's cop lights, as it may
conflict with Open Limit Adjuster and cause a crash.

If you have NFSMW Extra Options, make sure to disable the following features, as they conflict with Crossfire:

 • PursuitActionMode - this one messes up the spawning logic of some stuff.
 • ShowNonPursuitCops - this option decreases difficulty by making all cops appear on the map, ignoring range.
 • HelicopterBountyFix - the mod already fixes this, and this completely breaks some low value Bounty rewards.
 • ZeroBountyFix - the mod already fixes this, and this messes up the Heat 10 rewards.
 • HeatLevelOverride - this isn't critical, but you might want to disable it for convenient heat escalation.

────────── ■ │ COMMON ISSUES │ ■ ─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────

"My car and other racers are spawning without models or textures! They look like ghost cars"
 • This is caused by a conflict between Open Limit Adjuster and other mods that expand the memory pools.
 • HOW TO FIX: Check if your mods have an option that expands memory pools and disable said option.
Common mods and the options you need to disable:
                 - NFSMW Limit Adjuster the entire mod; it's NOT the same as Open Limit Adjuster
                 - NFSMW Extra Options ExpandMemoryPools & DoScreenPrintf
                 - NFSMW HD Reflections ExpandMemoryPools)
                 - NFSMW Unlimiter ExpandMemoryPools & RandomizeTraffic & CarSkinFix

                 • Unlimiter should be automatically dealt with by Crossfire's installation.
                 • If you have Unlimiter installed, Crossfire offers a compatible settings file.

"Heat 07 is too easy, i'm getting 1 million Bounty from Bombs, shouldn't they lower my Bounty instead?"
 • Yes, they should. The issue likely comes from NFSMW Extra Options.
 • HOW TO FIX: Read "NFSMW EXTRA OPTIONS COMPATIBILITY ISSUES" above.
